What are "Friends" in the Safe@AllStar App?

The Safe@AllStar App give you the ability to add other app users as “friends” so they can send and receive alerts on your athletes’ behalf

What is a "friend"?

A “friend” is an app user that you assign to one or more of your athletes. A “friend” by default can send and receive yellow alerts on an athlete’s behalf, however you must give a “friend” specific permissions for them to be able to send a red alert.  (You can learn more about Red and Yellow Alerts here)

How do I add a "friend" to my athletes?

After registering on the app and creating your athlete profile, take the following actions:

  1. Tap “My Athletes”
  2. Then, tap the athlete that you would like to assign a friend to
  3. After that, tap “Friends”
  4. Tap “Add Friend”
  5. Then, type in the full name of the user you would like to add as a “friend” (NOTE: If you’re unsure of the spelling of the name of your potential friend, just type as much of it as you know.  For instance, if you want George Washington to be your friend, you may type “geo wash” and George Washington will appear in the results list)
  6. Once you enter their name, tap the search button and a list will show up below of the users with that name and their city/state
  7. Tap their name
  8. Decide whether you want this friend to be able to send Yellow Alerts only, or both Red and Yellow Alerts. (You can learn more about Red and Yellow Alerts here)
  9. Tap “Add Friend” – this adds the person to your athlete’s friend list as an “Unaccepted” friend request. It also sends the potential friend an email indicating that they have a new friend request in the app. The potential friend must enter the app and accept the friend request in order to both receive and send alerts on behalf of your athlete

How do I accept a friend request?

  1. If someone sends you a friend request, you’ll receive an email indicating the request
  2. Open the Safe@AllStar app and tap the “My Athletes” button. You’ll see a new entry, marked “Unaccepted” in the “My Friends and Friend Requests” list.
  3. Tap the new entry and a popup menu will appear where you can choose whether to accept or deny the request
